on each including the type of the attack, where it happened, who is the victim etc.
1.Microsoft
Software Caused Data Breach (March)
Hackers
launched the attack by combining stolen credentials with previously
undiscovered vulnerabilities in Microsoft Exchange servers. Over 30,000
organizations, including local governments, were impacted by the attack across
the United States. In March of 2021, the Chinese hacking group Hafnium launched
an attack against Microsoft. The attackers signed in and installed malware that
enabled them to use command-and-control proxies. The type of attacks is Active
attack.
2.Facebook
Data Breach (April)
Hackers gained access to the personal
information of over 533 million Facebook users as a result of a data breach.
The user's name, date of birth, current city, phone numbers, and even some
email addresses were all included. A white hat security group discovered the
vulnerability in 2021, and it has been active since 2019.This particular breach happened when
cybercriminals scraped data from Facebook’s servers using a misconfiguration in
their contact importer. As a result, they could gain access to the personal
information of millions of people. The type of attacks is passive attack.
3.JBS
Ransomware Attack (May)
A ransomware
attack targeted JBS, the world's third-largest meat processor, in May. Hundreds
of beef and poultry processing plants spanning four continents were reported to
be offline as a result of the attack. JBS made a bitcoin payment to the
cybercriminals after learning they'd lose their complete database if they
didn't pay the $11 million ransom demand. The malware was put into one of JBS'
systems using phishing emails, according to an internal investigation. After
deceiving company personnel into opening the messages, Trojan infections could
exploit holes in their IT system and acquire complete access. The type of
attacks is Active attack.
